There is no doubt that English is one of the most vital languages in the world, spoken by millions as a first language and adopted as a second language in numerous countries. Furthermore, English is the primary foreign language taught in schools, institutes, and universities globally. Learning this language provides students with the invaluable opportunity to engage with the vast information available on the internet and to access foundational references in all fields of science.
The English Language Department was established in 2013, later becoming part of the Faculty of Arts when White Nile College was elevated to White Nile University in 2017. The department carries broad aspirations and noble goals for its students and graduates, striving to provide all necessary means to achieve them. Our primary objective is to empower graduates to master the language effectively, attaining a level of proficiency comparable to native speakers. To this end, the department focuses on developing the four essential linguistic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
We look forward to the department successfully fulfilling its mission in English language instruction, continuing to provide society with qualified professionals capable of contributing to national development. Our graduates are prepared to take on responsibilities across various sectors, including Media, Teaching, Diplomacy, Translation, International and Regional Organizations, Financial Institutions, and other entities that require the expertise of English Language graduates from the Faculty of Arts.
