The Supreme Council for Scientific Research at White Nile University reviewed the operational performance of the Nile Center for Scientific Research and its affiliated sub-research centers during its second meeting for the year 2026. The meeting was chaired by Professor El-Shazali Eissa Hamad, President of the University, in the presence of Dr. Qamar El-Dawla Abdel-Muttalib Ahmed, Vice President of the University, alongside several council members.
Dr. Amani Badawi Kanouna, Acting Director of the Nile Center for Scientific Research, presented a comprehensive report outlining the basic regulations and organizational structure of the center. She also highlighted the status of the sub-research centers, which have implemented several community-oriented projects, conducted scientific research, and published numerous research papers in local and international academic journals.
Professor El-Shazali Eissa Hamad emphasized the necessity of further activating scientific research, noting it as one of the fundamental pillars of the university, which receives significant attention. He stated that the university allocates 2% of its revenues to support scientific research.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of revitalizing underperforming sub-research centers to fulfill the university’s goals and mission, expressing the administration’s full readiness to provide all necessary work requirements—including equipping offices, laboratories, and supplying essential tools to facilitate the research centers' functions. He also directed the organization of a postgraduate conference to present defended Master's and Ph.D. theses across various disciplines and to leverage their scientific outcomes to serve the community.
Additionally, he called for drafting a proposal to establish and execute a Scientific Research Award to select and honor outstanding research presented by full professors in recognition of their academic efforts, encouraging research excellence, and applying practical findings on the ground to benefit the local community.
