Professor El-Sammani Abdel-Muttalib Ahmed, Chairman of the White Nile University Board of Directors, chaired—via videoconference—the second Board of Directors meeting for the year 2026, held at the university administration building in Kosti.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdel-Qadir Muhammad Hassan, Director General of Private, Non-Governmental, and Foreign Education at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Professor El-Shazali Eisa Hamad, President of the University; the presidents of El-Imam El-Mahdi, Bakht El-Ruda, and Neelain Universities; Professor Awad Haj Ali, University Advisor; Professor Qamar El-Dawla Abdel-Muttalib Ahmed, Vice President of the University; Dr. Essam El-Din Ahmed Muhammad Badri, University Treasurer; and members of the Board of Directors.
The meeting reviewed the administrative, financial, and academic performance report for the first half of 2026, presented by the University President, Professor El-Shazali Eisa Hamad. The report covered governance, academic affairs, social responsibility, and investment. Meanwhile, the financial performance report was presented by the University Treasurer, Dr. Essam El-Din Ahmed Muhammad Badri, who described the financial trajectory as balanced.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the remaining programs for 2026—totalling seven postgraduate programs—along with the announcement of admissions for the Faculty of Optometry during the current year. Honoring the university’s Silver Jubilee, the board paid tribute to the first Dean and Vice Dean of Kosti Non-Governmental College, which later transitioned into White Nile University. The Board also directed the formation of a committee to benchmark faculty salaries against peer universities to enhance job satisfaction.
For his part, Dr. Abdel-Qadir Muhammad Hassan praised the significant progress White Nile University has achieved in infrastructure and academic programs, affirming its vital role in education, scientific research, and community service. He noted that the presented reports earned the approval and acclaim of the Board members, commending the university’s role in hosting 19 higher education institutions during the wartime period.
Professor El-Hadi Adam, President of Neelain University, President of the Association of Sudanese Universities, and Board Member, stated that White Nile University has become a premier institution progressing toward global standing. He noted that the meeting reviewed the university’s expansion and quality project, urging the recruitment of international students and the strengthening of partnerships with regional and global universities. He added that the university's tuition structure resembles a community-based and endowment model, focusing on academic and civic mission rather than commercial profit.
Furthermore, Professor El-Sammani Abdel-Muttalib Ahmed commended the university leadership—represented by the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Deans of Academic Affairs and Quality, Faculty Deans, and academic staff—for their efforts in maintaining academic stability and consolidating quality standards. He also praised the University Media Department for conveying the institution's mission, emphasizing the necessity of expanding digital media.
In their interventions, Board members recommended encouraging scientific research, publishing in international journals, improving the university’s ranking among Sudanese institutions, continuously training faculty members, updating curricula to align with labor market needs, and boosting campus services—particularly providing free internet access to students. Finally, they praised the presented report for its thoroughness despite the extraordinary conditions facing the country.
