White Nile University was established as private college at 1999, upgraded to university in september 2017. the university awards the following degrees:
Diploma degree.
Bachelor degree.
Higher diploma degree.
Master and Phd degree.

- Developing technical programs aimed at developing White Nile State in particular and Sudan in general.

- Creating distinguished students through regularly developing and updating university curricula.
Location and Establishment
White Nile University is located in the city of Kosti, in White Nile State, about 300 km south of Khartoum. Kosti is a major gateway to the Republic of South Sudan and serves as an important river port. It is also a key route to Kordofan and Darfur regions and is known for rain-fed mechanized agriculture. The city has a dry port, textile factories, and other industries.
The university's founders submitted an application and received preliminary accreditation on October 13, 1997. It was granted a preliminary license on August 9, 1998, and final accreditation on July 11, 1999, to offer:
- Bachelor of Education for Basic Stage (4 years)
- Bachelor of Economics and Administrative Sciences (4 years)
- Diploma in Computer Science (3 years)
Academic Program Launch
Studies began in 2000 with programs in Economics and Computer Science. In April 2001, the Education program began. In 2002, classes were opened in Tendelti for training basic stage teachers.

- Aug 22, 2002: Diplomas in Management Information Systems and Accounting Information Systems introduced.
- Nov 12, 2002: Continuing education programs launched, including Business and Computer short courses.
- Apr 26, 2006: Joined Union of Sudanese Universities.
- Aug 29, 2010: Bachelor of Information Technology (4 years) approved.
- Apr 29, 2013: Bachelor of English Language program added.
- Jan 29, 2014: Board of Trustees established under new founding order.
- Feb 25, 2014: Short English language courses approved.
- Mar 6, 2014: Five members appointed to the Academic Council.
- Mar 25, 2014: Bachelor of Architecture Engineering approved.
- Aug 25, 2015: Bachelor of Law program approved.
- Apr 15, 2015: Postgraduate programs approved:
- Higher Diploma in Business Administration
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Higher Diploma in Educational Sciences
- Master of Educational Sciences
- Jun 3, 2016: Information Systems program approved.
- Aug 25, 2016: Medicine and Surgery, and Medical Laboratory Sciences programs approved.
- Apr 23, 2017: Higher Diploma and Master's in Information Technology approved.
